Assi Iman, originally Assiatou Barry from Guinea, West Africa, stands as a captivating figure in the realms of swimwear and beauty. Her formative experiences and inherent strength have fueled a dynamic and diverse professional path. The eldest of six siblings, she spent her youth in Memphis, Tennessee, before relocating to New York City, the very place where her modeling aspirations began to materialize. Possessing a sharp intellect and a strong work ethic, Assi secured an academic scholarship and pursued International Relations at Mercy College. However, her creative inclinations eventually guided her toward a career in modeling, a decision that proved both courageous and fruitful.

Her career commenced in New York at the tender age of seventeen. She quickly found herself involved in advertising campaigns for prominent hair companies and collaborated with a variety of New York City's makeup artists. Subsequently, she relocated to Los Angeles to dedicate herself fully to her modeling pursuits. Within twelve months, she secured significant partnerships with well-known brands such as Fashion Nova and Anastasia Beverly Hills, and made appearances in several music videos, rapidly solidifying her presence in the fashion and entertainment industries.

Beyond her modeling work, Assi is an enterprising visionary. She introduced her own fashion line, Assi Iman, and a hair brand specializing in high-quality weaves. Her collections and creations are a testament to her deep connection to her heritage, her distinct personal style, and her dedication to celebrating her African roots through fashion. Assi is also a vocal supporter of Black women and the pursuit of creative autonomy. She champions staying true to one's identity, choosing the independence of freelance work over the constraints of conventional agency demands. As she herself has stated, her heritage deeply influences her desire to showcase African and Black culture in her professional endeavors, a source of immense pride. She notes that while agencies sometimes require models to alter their appearance for specific jobs, being a freelancer offers the liberty to maintain her authentic self and unique look, valuing this personal aesthetic greatly. Informed by her journey and motivated by a desire to encourage others, Assi continues to inspire individuals to pursue their dreams, while cultivating a brand synonymous with genuine expression, sophistication, and the opulent lives of Black women.
