BJ Ahyeong — Biography

Authorities in Cambodia have accused a Chinese couple of ending the life of a South Korean online personality, though the pair maintains she passed away during a procedure at their facility. The remains of BJ Ahyeong were discovered discarded near Cambodia's principal city, Phnom Penh. The couple claims they left her body after she experienced convulsions and succumbed while undergoing treatment at their aesthetic establishment in the city. However, legal officials have rejected their explanation. According to prosecutor Plang Sophal, speaking to the AFP news agency, Lai Wenshao and Cai Huijuan have been indicted on charges of "murder with torture." Reports indicate her body was discovered by local residents, enshrouded in red fabric. BJ Ahyeong was a prominent figure on AfreecaTV, a South Korean video platform, boasting a following of over 260,000 on Instagram. "BJ" is an abbreviation for Broadcast Jockey, a Korean term designating individuals who broadcast live content to audiences. South Korean news outlets have identified her as Byun Ah-yeong, aged 33. Earlier this year, she had shared her intention to withdraw from her public life to "live as a normal person." Should they be convicted, the couple faces a potential sentence of life imprisonment.
