About Brigitte Nielsen
Brigitte Nielsen, born on July 15, 1963, in Rødovre, Denmark, is a Danish actress who gained fame in the B-movie scene of the 1980s, largely due to her striking height of 6 feet 1 inch (185 cm), her voluptuous figure, and captivating looks. Originally named Gitte Nielsen, she grew up in Rødovre as the daughter of Svend Nielsen, an engineer, and Hanne, a librarian. She has one brother named Jan. Nielsen's acting career took off in 1985 when she starred in Red Sonja.
Following her divorce from Sylvester Stallone in 1987, Nielsen ventured into music, releasing her first album, Every Body Tells a Story, that same year. She collaborated with the Austrian pop star Falco on the duet "Body Next to Body," which achieved moderate success, reaching #22 in Germany and #6 in Austria. In 1992, she put out a second album, I'm the One...Nobody Else, but it did not perform well commercially. In 1999, she made a return to music with the dance track "No More Turning Back," under the name Gitta, which topped charts in Spain and other European countries. Other songs released under this pseudonym included "Tic Toc" in 2000 and "You're No Lady," a collaboration with RuPaul, in 2001.
In the late 1980s, Marvel Comics approached Nielsen to model as She-Hulk for promotional photographs, banking on her successful portrayal of Red Sonja. However, this endeavor did not generate enough interest from investors, leading to the project's cancellation. In the 1990s, she hosted an English-language talk show that gained popularity across Europe, successfully reinvigorating her public image and dispelling the notion that she was merely a pretty face.
Nielsen has also been active in Italian television, hosting various successful shows, including the 1992 edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, Retromarsh (1995-1997), and ..la sai l'ultima? (1999). She starred in the TV movie Fantaghirò and its sequels from 1992 to 1996, and made a guest appearance in the soap opera Un posto al sole on Rai Tre in 2000. Her reality television endeavors included participating in the first season of the Italian version of The Mole in 2004 and the third season of VH1's The Surreal Life, where her flirtations with rapper Flavor Flav were a highlight. Their relationship, which began during the show while she was still married to Raoul Meyer, led to a VH1 spin-off series called Strange Love, premiering on January 9, 2005.
Nielsen also appeared at the VH1 Big in '04 Awards and guest-starred on Flavor of Love in 2006. Her reality TV involvement continued with Celebrity Big Brother
