Born Germaine Hélène Irène Lefebvre on January 6, 1928, in France, Capucine first graced the world as a striking fashion model before transitioning to a film career. She became a familiar face on screen, particularly noted for her appearances in humorous films such as The Pink Panther from 1963 and What's New Pussycat? released in 1965. Over the course of her professional life, from 1948 until her death in 1990, Capucine starred in a total of 36 movies and participated in 17 television projects. Her life concluded on March 17, 1990, at the age of 62. Capucine died by suicide, jumping from the eighth floor of her apartment in Lausanne, Switzerland, a city she had called home for 28 years. Reports indicated she had been struggling with health issues and a period of depression prior to her death.
