About Carla Bonner

Carla Bonner, born on March 3, 1973, is an Australian performer recognized for her significant role as Stephanie Scully in the long-running Australian drama Neighbours. She was a consistent presence on the show from 1999 until 2010. Her television appearances also include a stint on Celebrity Big Brother Australia in 2002. After her initial departure from Neighbours, Bonner ventured into writing with her book, Hook, Line and Sink Her, and made a guest appearance on the series Wentworth. She briefly revisited the character of Steph in 2013 before rejoining Neighbours as a regular from October 2015 until June 2018. Bonner reprised the role of Steph again for a short period in July 2022.

Bonner pursued her acting education at the Australian College of the Arts. Before securing her iconic role on Neighbours, her professional acting work was primarily in television commercials, corporate productions, and minor roles, including a guest spot on Raw FM. When Emma Roche, who initially played Stephanie Scully, unexpectedly left the series, Bonner auditioned for the part and was promptly cast. On June 3, 2010, after an eleven-year tenure, Bonner announced her departure from Neighbours. The decision left the door open for her character's return, as Stephanie was not written off the show. The show's executive producer, Susan Bower, acknowledged Bonner's talent, promising a memorable and fitting farewell for the character.

In 2012, Bonner published her dating guide for men, Hook, Line and Sink Her. Later that year, it was announced she would be returning to Neighbours for a two-month engagement. Bonner commenced filming her scenes in January 2013, and her on-screen return as Steph aired on April 15, 2013. She also portrayed Manda Katsis in the fourth episode of Wentworth. On September 10, 2013, it was revealed that Bonner had partnered with writer and producer Gary O'Toole to develop a television series based on her book, Hook, Line and Sink Her, planned as a 12-part production. In 2015, Bonner appeared in the ABC3 teen drama Ready for This. In July of that same year, it was confirmed that Bonner had returned to Neighbours as Steph, with her appearances resuming from October. By May 2018, it was confirmed that Bonner had concluded her role on the show. That same year, she filmed a part in the ABC Comedy series Superwog.

Carla Bonner resides in Perth, Western Australia, and is the mother of two sons, Harley and Jhye. Harley joined the cast of Neighbours in 2013, playing the character of Josh Willis. Bonner maintains a close friendship with Kym
