She achieved professional status in the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB Pro League) in 1994.

During her active bodybuilding career, Cureton competed primarily in the Middleweight divisions. Her stage weight consistently adhered to the IFBB Middleweight limits.
