About Carole Bouquet

Born on August 18, 1957, Carole Bouquet is a French talent who has graced the silver screen in over sixty productions since 1977. Her considerable acting achievements were recognized in 1990 with a César Award for Best Actress, earned for her compelling portrayal in Too Beautiful for You.

Bouquet's journey began in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Her cinematic entrance was a memorable one, appearing in the iconic surrealist masterpiece That Obscure Object of Desire, directed by Luis Buñuel, in 1977. She later took on the memorable role of Melina Havelock, the Bond girl opposite Roger Moore, in the 1981 installment of the James Bond saga, For Your Eyes Only. The French Academy acknowledged her work with a César Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Rive droite, rive gauche in 1984, before she secured the Best Actress César for her performance in the critically acclaimed Too Beautiful For You in 1989.

During the 1980s, Bouquet also lent her image to the prestigious French fashion house Chanel, becoming the celebrated face of their iconic Chanel No. 5 fragrance, a position she held from 1986 to 1997. Her personal life has included a partnership with film producer Jean-Pierre Rassam, with whom she has a son, Dimitri Rassam, who also entered the film industry as a producer. In 1987, she welcomed a son, Louis, with her partner at the time, photographer Francis Giacobetti. Bouquet married immunologist Jacques Leibowitch in 1992, a union that concluded in divorce in 1996. Following this, she was in a relationship with actor Gérard Depardieu from 1996 to 2005. Her engagement with the film world extended to serving on juries, including the 4th Shanghai International Film Festival in 1999 and the main competition jury at the Cannes Film Festival in 2014. It was during the 37th Cannes Film Festival in 2014, while serving as a jury member, that Bouquet publicly solidified her relationship with Philippe Sereys de Rothschild on the red carpet. Since 2005, she has also dedicated her energies to her vineyard, Maison Carole Bouquet, situated on the island of Pantelleria in the Strait of Sicily.
