About Christine Baranski

Born on May 2, 1952, Christine Jane Baranski is an accomplished American performer. Her portrayal of Maryann Thorpe in the 1990s sitcom Cybill earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. More recently, she has garnered recognition for her work as Diane Lockhart in the acclaimed legal dramas The Good Wife and its successor, The Good Fight, as well as for her role as Agnes van Rhijn in the historical series The Gilded Age. Both of these latter performances also resulted in Primetime Emmy Award nominations. On the cinematic front, Baranski has appeared in a diverse range of films, including Reversal of Fortune, The Birdcage, Cruel Intentions, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Chicago, Mamma Mia!, Into the Woods, and its sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Her recurring part as Dr. Beverly Hofstadter in The Big Bang Theory also led to four Primetime Emmy Award nominations. The theater world has honored her with two Tony Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Play: one for Charlotte in Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing and another for Chris Gorman in Neil Simon's Rumors. Her significant contributions to Broadway also include productions such as Hurlyburly, The House of Blue Leaves, and Boeing Boeing.
