About Claire Foy
Claire Foy, born on April 16, 1984, is a British performer. Her most recognized work involves her depiction of a young Queen Elizabeth II across the initial two installments of the Netflix drama The Crown, airing from 2016 to 2017. This role garnered her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Foy's initial television appearance was in the introductory episode of the paranormal comedy series Being Human in 2008.
After her professional stage premiere at the Royal National Theatre, she took on the central character in the BBC One adaptation of Little Dorrit in 2008. Her cinematic introduction came with the American historical fantasy film Season of the Witch in 2011. Subsequent to leading roles in the television programs The Promise (2011) and Crossbones (2014), Foy received acclaim for her portrayal of the doomed monarch Anne Boleyn in the BBC miniseries Wolf Hall in 2015, a performance that led to a British Academy Television Award for Best Actress nomination.
In 2018, she featured in Steven Soderbergh's psychological thriller Unsane and embodied Janet Shearon, wife of astronaut Neil Armstrong, in Damien Chazelle's biographical film First Man. For her work in the latter, she secured nominations for both a Golden Globe Award and the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actress. More recently, in 2021, she played Margaret Campbell, Duchess of Argyll, in the Amazon Prime series A Very British Scandal, and in 2022, she appeared in the drama film Women Talking.
