Claire Holt, an actress hailing from Australia, made her initial mark on the television landscape in 2006 when she secured the role of Emma Gilbert in the children's program H2O: Just Add Water. This series garnered acclaim, earning a Logie Award and a Nickelodeon Australia Kids' Choice Award. Despite the show's renewal for a third season, Holt departed after the second to pursue an opportunity in the film sequel to The Messengers, titled Messengers 2: The Scarecrow. Filmed in Sofia throughout 2008, this straight-to-DVD release, co-starring Norman Reedus and Heather Stephens, premiered on July 21, 2009.

In 2016, she was cast as Susan in the romantic comedy film The Divorce Party. The following year, Holt starred as Kayla in the ABC thriller drama television pilot Doomsday. Also in 2017, she played the lead role of Kate in the underwater survival horror film 47 Meters Down, appearing alongside Mandy Moore and Matthew Modine, which was released in theaters on June 16, 2017.

In 2021, Holt took on a leading role in the film Untitled Horror Movie. That same year, she collaborated with Andie Swim on a swimsuit collection. In November 2021, she reprised her role as Rebekah Mikaelson in the Originals spin-off series Legacies.
