About Claire Oelkers

Claire Oelkers, whose mother is Filipino, grew up in Grevenbroich, near Neuss, where she attended high school and completed her Abitur in 2004. Her acting journey began at the age of fifteen in 2000, leading to appearances in over a dozen television and film projects. She further honed her craft with acting studies at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City. Notably, she portrayed Ayse in the 2006 disaster film Die Wolke.

In 2003, Oelkers established the rock band Karpatenhund, taking on the role of lead singer. The band's song "Gegen den Rest" climbed to number 43 on the German charts and served as the official theme song for the ARD evening series Türkisch für Anfänger. Karpatenhund has been on hiatus since 2010.

An interview with Oelkers for MTV Germany in 2007 led to an unexpected job offer. Within weeks, she was hosting programs like MTV News, Total Request Live, and MTV brand:neu, with Joko Winterscheidt conducting the pivotal interview. In November 2009, Oelkers graced the cover of the German edition of Playboy magazine.

In 2014, she launched the YouTube channel German-Ness, an alternative city guide for Germany, where she served as both host and producer. Since late 2016, Oelkers has been a reporter for the ProSieben infotainment show Galileo, gaining significant recognition for the XDays segment where she regularly tries out different jobs. Her on-screen experiences include roles as a flight attendant, package delivery person, and veterinary assistant. Since 2019, she has also been a studio presenter for Galileo, co-hosting the Sunday edition with Stefan Gödde. Additionally, since 2021, she has been hosting the bi-weekly podcast Bye Bye CO2 – Der LichtBlick Klima-Podcast.
