About Cobie Smulders
Cobie Smulders is an actress holding both Canadian and American citizenship. She gained widespread recognition for portraying Robin Scherbatsky on the CBS comedy series How I Met Your Mother, which aired from 2005 to 2014, and for her recurring character as S.H.I.E.L.D. operative Maria Hill throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with The Avengers in 2012. Her filmography encompasses Safe Haven from 2013, The Lego Movie and Results both from 2014, The Intervention and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back released in 2016, and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part in 2019. Smulders has also appeared in several television projects including the Netflix adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events in 2017, the Netflix comedy Friends from College spanning 2017 to 2019, the ABC police procedural Stumptown which ran during 2019 and 2020, and the FX documentary series Impeachment: American Crime Story in 2021. Her stage work began with an off-Broadway performance in the Nora Ephron production Love, Loss and What I Wore during 2010. She subsequently made her Broadway appearance in a revival of Noël Coward's Present Laughter in 2017, receiving recognition with a Theater World Award. Smulders became engaged to Taran Killam in January 2009, having first crossed paths with him at a gathering hosted by mutual acquaintances four years earlier. The couple exchanged vows on September 8, 2012, in Solvang, California, and share two daughters born in 2009 and 2015. A wildfire destroyed their Pacific Palisades residence in Los Angeles in January 2025. By February 2026, Smulders had accumulated 2.1 million Instagram followers.
