About Constance Marie
Constance Marie, born Constance Marie Lopez on September 9, 1965, is known for her role as Angie Lopez, the wife of the titular character, on the ABC sitcom "George Lopez." Her acting journey began in her teenage years. Prior to her acting success, at the age of nineteen, she was a dancer in the musical "Cosmopolis," a production by composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, which took her to Japan. Upon her return to Los Angeles, a dance choreographer for David Bowie noticed her in a club. This led to her being selected from a group of 500 dancers to join David Bowie's 1987 global "Glass Spider Tour."
Marie's acting career also took flight in her adolescence, securing a role in the film "Salsa." Her extensive resume includes appearances in the CBS drama "Early Edition," the highly successful 1988 film "Dirty Dancing," the 1997 ABC biographical drama "Selena," the ABC sitcom "Spin City," the film "The Underworld," and the FOX series "Ally McBeal." She was later cast as Angie Lopez on the ABC sitcom "George Lopez." She also portrayed Yolanda in the 2001 movie "Tortilla Soup" and was featured in the syndicated television series "American Family."
In October 2007, Marie expanded her creative ventures by launching her own fashion line, "The Constance Marie Collection." That same year, she participated in a PETA advertisement advocating for pet spaying and neutering. In the summer of 2011, Marie took on a significant role in the ABC Family drama "Switched at Birth," portraying the biological mother of one of the main characters and acting as a maternal figure to the other.
