Corinne Russell — Biography

Corinne Russell, born on November 22, 1963, in Birmingham, England, gained prominence as a page 3 girl, glamour model, and dancer in the 1980s. As a child, she excelled in gymnastics and dance, eventually becoming an instructor in acrobatic and ballroom dancing, with a focus on Latin-American styles. Her talent earned her multiple competition victories, and she showcased her abilities as a contortionist, including a six-week stint in a Greek hotel where she performed her unique dancing style. Russell's skills in dance led her to perform on the popular show Top of the Pops.

Before her modeling career took off, she worked as an office assistant and barmaid, honing her skills as a darts player to the point where she captained a women’s darts team. It was during her time as a barmaid that she found her path into modeling, having been discovered by a fashion photographer. She made her debut as one of The Sun's famous Page 3 Girls on August 22, 1982, and later appeared in the Daily Star starting September 7, tallying up a total of 189 appearances between both newspapers (118 in The Sun and 71 in the Daily Star) until her last appearances in 1990. Her modeling portfolio included numerous nude photographs in various magazines, and she recounted an incident during a newspaper interview about being persuaded to shoot soft nude photos in Portugal under uncertain circumstances, which unexpectedly led to widespread publication of her images in the UK.

Russell was named Penthouse Pet of the Month in the UK edition for February 1988 and also appeared in the May 1983 issue of Lui magazine alongside iconic pin-ups like Brigitte Bardot and Marilyn Monroe. She featured in various print advertisements for swimsuits and lingerie throughout Europe. In 1983, she became one of the "Hill's Angels" on The Benny Hill Show, where her contortionist skills were highlighted during different segments, including the "Mahala Bubble dance" and the Hill's Angels routines. She became a regular on The Kenny Everett Television Show in 1985.

In 1989, Russell took on a nonspeaking role in the film Blackeyes, portraying a model who assists another character after a traumatic experience. Her film credits include a role as the Giant Typewriter Dancer in Absolute Beginners and a speaking part as a hooker named "Candy" in Highlander. She danced in silhouette during the opening credits of the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy and played a car model named "Suzi Lake" in the TV movie Harry's Kingdom. Her film appearances also included a minor role in Bolero alongside Bo Derek, where her scene featured her in an outdoor hot tub.

Russell appeared in commercials for Castella Cigars and Banks Mild Ale, and she gained attention in the AC/DC music video "You Shook Me All Night Long," where she led a group of leather-clad women.
