Courteney Cox — Biography

Courteney Bass Cox, formerly known as Courteney Cox Arquette, was born on June 15, 1964, and is an accomplished American actress and filmmaker. She achieved worldwide fame through her portrayal of Monica Geller in the beloved NBC television comedy Friends, which aired from 1994 to 2004. This role garnered her seven nominations for Screen Actors Guild Awards, including one win. Cox gained additional prominence for her recurring character Gale Weathers in the Scream horror film series starting in 1996 and continuing to the present day. She holds the distinction of being the sole actress to appear in all six consecutive films within that horror franchise. Her television career also encompasses roles such as Lauren Miller in the NBC show Family Ties from 1987 to 1989, Lucy Spiller in the FX drama Dirt during 2007 and 2008, and Jules Cobb in the ABC/TBS sitcom Cougar Town between 2009 and 2015. The latter role earned her Golden Globe Award and Critics' Choice Awards nominations. Beyond these major roles, Cox has appeared in various films including the 1987 action fantasy Masters of the Universe, the 1994 comedy Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the animated 2006 film Barnyard, the 2008 fantasy comedy Bedtime Stories, and the 2016 independent drama Mothers and Daughters. She is the proprietor of Coquette Productions, a company she established alongside her former husband David Arquette. Additionally, Cox has worked as a director on multiple projects, including episodes of Cougar Town, the 2012 television drama TalhotBlond, and the 2014 black comedy drama Just Before I Go.
