Denise Bidot — Biography

Denise Bidot, an American model celebrated for her presence in the plus-size fashion industry, embarked on her modeling journey unexpectedly. Initially working as a makeup artist, she caught the eye of a photographer who saw her potential, prompting Bidot to venture into modeling. Her career reached a significant milestone in 2014 when she made history at New York Fashion Week, becoming the first plus-size model to grace the runways of two straight-size brands.

Bidot's impressive client list includes renowned retailers such as Nordstrom, Forever21, Target, Old Navy, Lane Bryant, Levi's, and Macy's. Her visibility extended beyond print and runway, with appearances on television shows like nuvoTV's Curvy Girls, HBO's Habla Women, and the Yahoo! En Español web series Mama vs. Mama. She also participated in segments on The Tyra Banks Show and The Real. In 2016, Bidot launched a powerful lifestyle initiative titled "There Is No Wrong Way to Be a Woman." That same year, she was featured in the documentary film Straight/Curve. A defining moment in her career occurred in December 2016 when an unretouched image of Bidot in a Lane Bryant resort wear ad, showcasing her stretch marks, went viral within hours. Continuing her impact on television, Bidot joined the Univision beauty pageant Nuestra Belleza Latina as a principal judge in 2018.

In her personal life, Bidot is a mother to her daughter, Joselyn Adams, born in 2008, with her childhood sweetheart Joshua Adams. She began a relationship with rapper and producer Lil Wayne in June 2020, though they parted ways that November after Bidot observed Wayne's support for then-US President Donald Trump. The couple later reconciled, but ultimately ended their relationship again in early 2022.
