Dido — Biography

Born on Christmas Day in 1971, Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong, who performs under the name Dido, is a singer and songwriter hailing from England. Her breakthrough onto the global music scene came with the release of her first album, No Angel, in 1999. This record spawned popular tracks such as "Here with Me" and "Thank You." No Angel achieved a remarkable sales figure of over 21 million units worldwide, leading to a host of accolades for Dido, including two Brit Awards for Best British Female and Best British Album, as well as the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act. The opening lines of her song "Thank You" were famously incorporated into "Stan," a successful collaboration with the American rapper Eminem. Dido maintained her momentum with her subsequent album, Life for Rent, released in 2003, which featured prominent singles like "White Flag" and the title track "Life for Rent." In 2004, she lent her voice to the charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" as part of the ensemble Band Aid 20, alongside other notable British and Irish musicians.
