Dominique Swain — Biography
Born on August 12, 1980, Dominique Swain is an American actress. She is primarily recognized for her portrayals of the titular character in the 1997 cinematic interpretation of Vladimir Nabokov's novel Lolita, and as Jamie Archer, the daughter of Sean Archer, in the action film Face/Off. Swain's birthplace is Malibu, California, where she was born to Cindy Fitzgerald and David Swain, Sr., an electrical engineer. Her siblings include two sisters, Chelsea and Alexis, and a stepsister and stepbrother from her father's previous marriage. Growing up in Malibu, Swain attended Malibu High School and engaged in sports, art, and music. She was an accomplished student, achieving top grades and serving as Valedictorian, a distinction her sister had also held. Her parents are no longer together. Swain's professional journey in the entertainment industry began as a stunt double. Notably, she performed as the double for Quinn, Macaulay Culkin's younger sister, in Joseph Ruben's 1993 film The Good Son. At fourteen years old in 1995, Swain was selected from a pool of 2,500 candidates to embody the pivotal role of Dolores "Lolita" Haze in Adrian Lyne's contentious 1997 adaptation of Lolita. She was fifteen when filming commenced, and her performance garnered critical acclaim. Subsequently, she took on the role of the defiant teenager Jamie Archer in John Woo's 1997 film Face/Off. In 1998, she starred in the drama film Girl, portraying a high school student intent on losing her virginity. Swain also played a significant part in the 2006 film Alpha Dog.
