About Dorothy Bernard

Dorothy Bernard was an American performer who graced the silent film screen. Her career spanned almost six decades, from 1908 to 1956, during which she featured in close to ninety movies. Before her film work, Bernard honed her acting skills with various theater troupes in cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland, and Detroit. She also entertained audiences on the vaudeville circuit. Her initial foray into filmmaking began in 1911 when she collaborated with the renowned director D. W. Griffith and his Biograph Company. Dorothy Bernard passed away from a cardiac arrest at her residence in Hollywood on December 15, 1955. She was 65 years old at the time of her death. Her remains were cremated, and her ashes were subsequently interred at the Chapel of the Pines Crematory in Los Angeles.
