Eleanor Souray — Biography
Eleanor Souray established herself as a vibrant presence on the stage, excelling as both a comedic performer and a vocalist. Her artistic inclination favored productions spanning from the whimsical world of pantomime to the lighter currents of comedy. Her theatrical repertoire included notable productions such as The Black Tulip in 1898, followed by The Girl from Kays in 1902, and The Duchess of Dantzic in 1903. She also graced the stage in The Blue Moon in 1905, The Merveilleuses in 1906, and appeared in The Admirable Crichton and Letty. The esteemed Gaiety Theatre was a venue where her talents were frequently showcased. Beyond her performing career, Souray also turned her hand to writing, penning the novel Over the Garden Wall: A Story of Racing and Romance, which was released in 1924. She was the sister of fellow actress Maidie Souray.
