About Emily Strayer

Emily Strayer, born Erwin and formerly Robison, is a celebrated American artist known for her multifaceted talents as a songwriter, singer, and instrumentalist. She is a cornerstone of the acclaimed country music group, The Chicks, a band previously recognized as the Dixie Chicks. Strayer's instrumental prowess is vast, encompassing the banjo, dobro, guitar, lap steel, bass, mandolin, accordion, fiddle, piano, and even the sitar. While her early contributions to The Chicks primarily involved vocal harmonies and background singing, her work with the band Court Yard Hounds saw her step into the spotlight as a lead vocalist. Emily Strayer is also the sibling of Martie Maguire, another prominent member of The Chicks.
