About Emmy Rossum
Emmanuelle Grey Rossum is a multifaceted American actress and singer-songwriter. She began her career on stage as a child performer with the Metropolitan Opera. Her early film appearances included roles in Genius (1999), Songcatcher (2000), Passionada (2002), and Nola (2003). At the age of sixteen, she achieved a significant milestone with her role in Mystic River (2003). Rossum garnered further attention in the 2004 science fiction movie The Day After Tomorrow and received widespread acclaim for her portrayal of Christine Daaé in the film adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera (2004). Her filmography also includes Poseidon (2006), Dragonball: Evolution (2009), Inside (2011), Beautiful Creatures (2013), Comet (2014), You're Not You (2014), and Cold Pursuit (2019). On television, she is particularly recognized for her role as Fiona Gallagher in the series Shameless (2011–2019). Since the mid-2010s, Rossum has ventured into directing and producing, including her role in the 2022 Peacock series Angelyne, where she also stars. In 2007, she released her first album, Inside Out, along with a Christmas EP titled Carol of the Bells. She followed up with another album, Sentimental Journey, in 2013. Rossum's heritage includes Ashkenazi Jewish, Dutch, English, and Russian roots. As of February 2025, she has built a following of 4.4 million on Instagram.
