Her upbringing in Australia, alongside her older brothers, included a formative period in her youth playing with a band called "Short Straw." Transitioning into modeling, McNaught's career reached a significant milestone when she represented Australia in the Miss Universe 2006 pageant, though her placement in the competition was modest.
