Famke Janssen — Biography

Famke Beumer Janssen is a Dutch actress known for her diverse roles in film. She gained fame for portraying Xenia Onatopp in the 1996 James Bond movie "GoldenEye," and she is also recognized for her work as Jean Grey/Phoenix in the "X-Men" series, as well as Lenore Mills in the "Taken" trilogy. In recognition of her efforts towards global integrity, she was designated a Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations in 2008. She made her directorial debut with the film "Bringing Up Bobby" in 2011.

Janssen relocated to the United States during the 1980s, starting her journey in New York City, where she pursued a major in writing and literature while also studying stagecraft. Later, she moved to Los Angeles and began modeling for brands such as Chanel, Victoria's Secret, and Yves Saint Laurent. Famke made her entry into Hollywood in the early 1990s, with her first film being "Fathers & Sons" released in 1992.

During an appearance on NBC's "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" to discuss her character in "GoldenEye," she humorously demonstrated her character's signature moves on Conan, much to his delight. He famously responded to her offer with, "This is what we in the industry call a 'no-brainer'." Famke was listed as #69 in Stuff magazine's "102 Sexiest Women in the World" in 2002. She also participated in a PETA campaign in 2007, advocating for animal rights alongside her dog Licorice, a brindle Boston Terrier, with the slogan "Be an Angel for Animals." On January 28, 2008, she was officially recognized as a Goodwill Ambassador for Integrity for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime during an anti-corruption conference in Nusa Dua, Bali.
