Fran Gerard — Biography

Fran was featured as the Playmate of the Month in March 1967, with her pictorial bearing the title Stars in Her Eyes. Born Fran Anna Camuglia on March 23, 1948, in New York, she grew up in a family of four children. Her family eventually relocated to the Los Angeles area, where she attended Granada Hills High School and graduated with the class of 1966. In May 1966, she married Jack L. Cavender, a man thirty-seven years old. The union proved short-lived, ending in divorce by January 1967, just after her centerfold appeared in print. She went on to marry Maximilian Anthony Ray, a resident of New Mexico, in a ceremony held in Las Vegas in 1970. Fran distinguished herself as the first Playmate to be photographed while wearing eyeglasses. At the time of her pictorial, she worked as an assistant to an astrologer, specifically serving Jack Gemini, who practiced astrology in Los Angeles. Following the typical trajectory of many Playmates, Fran largely vanished from public prominence after her magazine spread. She passed away on May 30, 1985, at the age of thirty-seven, in Fountain View, California. Records from Find A Grave indicate that she took her own life and was laid to rest at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, California.
