About Gaia Weiss
Gaia Weiss is a French performer known for her work in both acting and modeling. Her acting credits span a range of television and film projects, including appearances in Mary Queen of Scots (2013), Vikings (2014–2015), Alien: Containment (2019), Meander (2020), La Révolution (2020), and Shepherd (2021).
Born in Paris, France, Gaia Weiss is the daughter of Catherine and Alain Weiss. She has a sibling named Auriel Weiss. Her family history includes an Ashkenazi Jewish paternal grandfather, Jean-Michel Weiss, who was involved in chromotherapy and was a member of the French Resistance. Her maternal heritage traces back to Poland. Her early years were spent moving between France, England, and Poland. She possesses fluency in several languages: French, English, Polish, Italian, German, and Hebrew.
Her artistic journey began at the age of three with classical ballet training. Witnessing West End theater productions during her childhood in London, encouraged by her great uncle, ignited her passion for acting, leading her to start acting classes at the age of seven. Following her secondary education, she pursued further studies at the Cours Florent and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Weiss made her feature film debut in 2013, portraying Mary Fleming in the historical drama Mary Queen of Scots. She also appeared in the Italian drama White as Milk, Red as Blood as Béatrice Morel. In 2014, she joined the cast of the History channel series Vikings for its second and third seasons, taking on the role of Þorunn.
Her filmography also includes the mythology film The Legend of Hercules (2014), the French comedy Serial Teachers 2 (2015), the action film Overdrive (2017), Gérard Jugnot's Accidental Family (2017), and the short film Alien: Containment (2019). She had a minor role as Ippolita Sforza in the series Medici: Masters of Florence. Weiss took the lead in the French horror film Meander and the British horror film Shepherd, with Meander receiving significant recognition within the genre. She played Marianne in the Netflix series La Révolution, a take on alternative history. Her voice acting work includes portraying Fulke in the video game Assassin's Creed Valhalla (2020). In 2022, she appeared as Madame du Barry in the BBC and Canal+ series Marie Antoinette. Gaia Weiss is also the niece of political journalist Andrzej Koraszewski.
