She gained significant recognition for her portrayal of Gillian Darmody across four seasons of the HBO drama Boardwalk Empire, from 2010 to 2014. Her filmography includes notable appearances in movies such as The Funeral in 1996, Donnie Brasco the following year, and the 1998 releases Celebrity and Rounders. She also featured in Sweet and Lowdown and The Thirteenth Floor, both released in 1999. More recently, she was part of the cast of 3:10 to Yuma in 2007 and Manchester by the Sea in 2016.
