About Haji
The cinematic world remembers Haji, a Canadian-American actress celebrated for her pivotal role in Russ Meyer's iconic exploitation film, Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! This project marked her introduction to the silver screen. Born Barbarella Catton in Quebec City, Quebec, on January 24, 1946, her artistic journey began at the tender age of 14 when she started performing as a topless dancer. It was during her time as an exotic dancer that Haji, as she was then known, captured the attention of the filmmaker Russ Meyer, often referred to as "King Leer." Meyer subsequently cast her in the unforgettable role of one of the three go-go dancers who transform into vengeful figures in "Pussycat." This film's release preceded that of Motorpsycho! (1965), solidifying its status as her debut theatrical film. Haji's collaborations with Meyer continued with her appearances in his energetic film Good Morning... and Goodbye! (1967), his ambitious Hollywood production Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970), and the vibrant, over-the-top blend of sex and action found in Supervixens (1975). Haji passed away on August 10, 2013, at the age of 67.
