Hayley Marie Norman — Biography
A native of Thousand Oaks, California, Hayley Marie Norman has established herself as a notable presence in American film and television. Her father, a former baseball player of African-American heritage, and her mother, whose lineage spans Russian, German, and distant Dutch roots, shaped her upbringing. On her maternal side, Norman is connected to the entertainment industry through her great-grandfather, production manager/assistant director Gene Anderson, and her great-uncle, actor Robert J. Anderson, recognized for portraying young George Bailey in the 1946 film It's a Wonderful Life, as well as great-nephew Gene Anderson Jr., an assistant director.
Norman's artistic talent was recognized early, earning her a prestigious Governor's medallion as a California Arts Scholar for two consecutive years, an exceptional achievement. Her dedication to her craft led her to further her studies at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Upright Citizens Brigade, where she cultivated her abilities in both dramatic acting and comedy. She remains an active performer in sketch and improv groups, frequently showcasing new material on the UCB main stage.
A significant moment in her career was her memorable performance in Chris Rock's Top Five (2014). Released on December 12, 2014, the film garnered considerable attention at the Toronto International Film Festival, leading to its acquisition by Paramount Studios. The movie was subsequently featured in the DGA's annual The Contenders event, signaling its potential for awards recognition.
Beyond Top Five, Norman co-produces and stars in the popular online series Hello Cupid, a semi-scripted show that draws heavily on her improvisational and comedic strengths. The series, now in its second season, follows the romantic endeavors of longtime friends Robyn (Hayley Marie Norman) and Whitney. Hello Cupid has received critical acclaim, earning an official selection at the TriBeCa Film Festival and a spot on Vulture's list of "Top 5 Great Web Series You Should Be Watching Now."
Earlier in her career, Norman played a vibrant cheerleader in Sony Pictures Screen Gems' Fired Up, earning praise from film critic Roger Ebert, who described her as "the most intriguing member of the cast." She has also held recurring roles in television series such as Crash, where she acted alongside Dennis Hopper, ABC's Selfie, and BET's long-running show The Game. Her acting resume also includes appearances in Hancock, Our Family Wedding, Norbit, New Girl, Bones, The Exes, CSI: NY, CSI: Miami, and Studio 60, among others.
As a "bonafide LA valley girl," one of Norman's initial professional engagements was serving as the official "face" of Mattel's African American Barbie. She later took on the role of Briefcase #25 model on the game show Deal or No Deal. Additionally, she is slated to appear in Relativity Media's Beyond The Lights
