Hennessy Carolina's public journey began in late 2015, where she first gained attention by sharing videos on the Vine platform alongside her older sister, Cardi B. This early digital success paved the way for her transition to television. In 2016, Hennessy made her initial television appearance, portraying herself in episodes of Love & Hip Hop: Check Yourself, following an audition for the main Love & Hip Hop series.

That same year, she also joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: New York. Over the course of the show's run from 2016 to 2018, she appeared in a total of twelve episodes. Her introduction was as a guest in Season 6, where she played herself, offering support and friendship to Cardi B. By Season 7, she was elevated to the supporting cast, taking on the role of a matchmaker for Cardi B and producer Swift Star. A notable moment from Season 7 occurred at the reunion, where Hennessy engaged in a physical altercation with Major Galore while defending her sister. Her involvement in the show continued with a single episode appearance in Season 8 after her initial departure. Furthermore, scenes she filmed for two additional episodes were ultimately not included in the main broadcast but were later released as bonus content online.

Hennessy also tested her mettle on The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars, a special installment of MTV's competitive series, specifically participating in Season 2 which debuted on April 17, 2018. Reflecting on this experience in an interview, Hennessy admitted to feeling intimidated. She shared her apprehension about the show, noting, "To be honest, I was really scared of going on the show because they do a lot." While the substantial $150,000 prize was designated for a charity of the contestants' choice, the competition was reportedly fraught with political complexities, particularly between the seasoned veterans of The Challenge and the celebrity participants. Ultimately, Hennessy chose to withdraw from the competition following several confrontations with other cast members, citing concerns for her personal well-being.

In a 2018 interview with Paper Magazine, Hennessy offered her perspective on her and Cardi B's shared ascent to fame, describing it as "a blessing, but it comes with challenges." She elaborated, explaining that "Sometimes you can't express your opinion, and not everyone will agree with you. Overall, it's a blessing." Hennessy further expanded her horizons in September 2018, making her runway debut for Philipp Plein's show in Milan. Despite experiencing nerves, she successfully navigated the fashion week event.
