About Holly Hunter
Born March 20, 1958, Holly Patricia Hunter is an acclaimed American performer. Her portrayal of Ada McGrath in the 1993 drama The Piano garnered her an Academy Award for Best Actress. Prior to this, she had received three previous Academy Award nominations for her work in Broadcast News in 1987, The Firm in 1993, and Thirteen in 2003. Hunter also secured two Primetime Emmy Awards for her leading roles in the television movies Roe vs. Wade in 1989 and The Positively True Adventures of the Alleged Texas Cheerleader-Murdering Mom in 1993. Audiences also saw her lead the TNT drama series Saving Grace from 2007 to 2010. Among her extensive filmography, viewers will recognize her from Raising Arizona (1987), Always (1989), Home for the Holidays (1995), Crash (1996), the Coen Brothers' O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), and the animated features The Incredibles (2004) and its follow-up Incredibles 2 (2018). More recently, she appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and The Big Sick (2017), a role that earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for outstanding supporting actress.
