Shamika Brown, known professionally as India Morel, stepped into the adult entertainment industry in 1997. Her early talent was recognized when she earned an AVN Award nomination for Best New Starlet in 2000. For a significant period of five years, she maintained an exclusive contract with the production house Video Team. Beyond her on-screen work, Morel has also lent her name to an exclusive line of sex toys, produced by California Exotic Novelties. Her career saw her participate in over 200 adult films between 1997 and 2008, encompassing a variety of scenes including solo, lesbian, and hardcore content.

In 2011, Morel's contributions as an African American performer in the adult film industry were celebrated with her induction into the Urban X Awards Hall of Fame. Her standing was further solidified when Complex Magazine, based in New York, ranked her third on their list of all-time greatest black porn stars.

Morel's entrepreneurial ventures extend beyond acting. She is the proprietor of the record label Black Widow Entertainment, and in 2006, she launched her own solo music album titled "Role Play." Additionally, she is a radio personality and the owner of Dollhouse Radio. Her life story was chronicled in her 2013 autobiography, "Infamous: Memoirs of a XXX Star." In this book, Morel asserts her status, stating, "Now you may not appreciate my resume but you will have to admit that I'm a star, a business woman, an entrepreneur. Too many women don't realize that sex is power. You may pretend not to know my name but I bet your man knows me.
