Her discovery occurred in Kansas City, where she was attending high school and encountered a local photographer. Though born in Chicago, Jamie's childhood was marked by frequent relocation, a period during which her energetic nature often found her engaged in boisterous play with boys, a stark contrast to the pastimes of her peers. While other girls might have been occupied with dolls, Jamie preferred constructing with Legos and playing with toy trucks. Her spirited personality even led to a disciplinary incident on the playground when she reacted physically to an unwanted advance from a boy. Acknowledging her limited culinary skills, Jamie does possess a talent for quickly preparing pasta, a nod to her Italian roots.
