About Jess Glynne
Born on October 20, 1989, Jessica Hannah Glynne is a British vocalist and lyricist. Her ascent to recognition occurred in 2014, propelled by her contributions to Clean Bandit's "Rather Be" and Route 94's "My Love," both of which claimed the top spot on the UK Singles Chart. Atlantic Records subsequently offered Glynne a recording contract, leading to the release of her inaugural studio project, I Cry When I Laugh, in 2015. Despite a divided reception from critics, the album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and produced the chart-topping tracks "Hold My Hand" and "Don't Be So Hard on Yourself."
Originally from Hampstead and brought up in Muswell Hill, North London, Glynne's upbringing was within a Jewish household. Her mother, Alexandra, née Ingram, had a career in the A&R sector of the music business. The family surname was initially Goldstein, but her grandfather made the decision to adopt Glynne. In June 2019, the Isle of Wight Festival issued a permanent exclusion for Glynne after she withdrew from her scheduled performance with only ten minutes' notice. The singer later admitted that her cancellation stemmed from a night of celebration following the conclusion of the Spice World tour. Later that same month, Glynne canceled a series of engagements, including a headline slot at the Rochester Castle Concerts, citing advice from her vocal surgeon. However, the festival ban was rescinded less than a year thereafter.
At the age of 15, Glynne was invited to compete in the second season of The X Factor, but she withdrew from the auditions due to a disagreement with the show's producers. Her early education included Rhodes Avenue Primary School and Fortismere School, where she completed her A-levels in 2008. Following her schooling, she held several diverse jobs, working in a clothing store, a fitness establishment, and a hair salon. After an extensive period of international travel, Glynne joined a music management firm in her late teenage years. This period was instrumental in her connecting with songwriters and producers, and she dedicated four years to refining her artistic skills.
