Her on-screen nudity first occurred in the 2008 sports drama film Two Fists, One Heart. Subsequently, it was featured in the period drama television series Magic City, specifically in a scene from its first season that included full frontal nudity, and again in the 2014 television biopic Carlotta. In 2009, Marais was engaged to James Stewart, who was also her co-star on Packed to the Rafters.
