About Jewel Kilcher
Jewel Kilcher, born on May 23, 1974, is a versatile American singer-songwriter, musician, producer, actress, author, and poet. Throughout her career, she has garnered four Grammy Award nominations and, by 2015, sold over 30 million albums globally. Jewel spent her formative years in Homer, Alaska, where she began her musical journey performing alongside her father, a local musician, specializing in singing and yodeling. At the age of fifteen, she earned a partial scholarship to the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, where she honed her skills in operatic voice. After completing her education, she ventured into the music scene, writing and performing at various clubs and coffeehouses in San Diego, California. Her growing presence caught the attention of local media, leading to a recording contract with Atlantic Records. In 1995, they released her debut album, Pieces of You, which became one of the best-selling debut albums ever, achieving 12-times platinum status. The album’s lead single, "Who Will Save Your Soul," reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, while two additional singles, "You Were Meant for Me" and "Foolish Games," climbed to number two on the same chart. Both singles were also featured on Billboard's year-end singles charts for 1997 and 1998. As of August 2024, Jewel has amassed 592,000 followers on Instagram, 438,400 on TikTok, and 273,000 subscribers on YouTube.
