Joanna Levesque — Biography

Joanna Levesque, known professionally as JoJo, is an American artist celebrated for her contributions to pop and R&B music, as well as her work in acting. Her journey in the entertainment industry began with an appearance on the talent competition America's Most Talented Kids. This exposure led to a pivotal meeting with music producer Vincent Herbert, who subsequently invited her to audition for Blackground Records.

JoJo's musical career officially launched in June 2004 with the release of her debut album, the self-titled JoJo. At the tender age of 13, she achieved a significant milestone, becoming the youngest solo artist to top the United States charts with the album's lead single, "Leave (Get Out)." This track achieved a peak position of 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, earned RIAA gold certification, and has since sold over three million copies globally.

Her sophomore effort, The High Road, arrived in October 2006. The album's initial single, "Too Little Too Late," released in August of the same year, climbed to number three on the Billboard Hot 100. This song was later certified platinum by the RIAA in March 2007. The High Road has seen sales exceeding two million copies worldwide. In September 2010, JoJo offered fans a preview of her forthcoming third studio album with her first mixtape, Can't Take That Away from Me, which was exclusively released via Rap-Up.com. The single "Disaster," a track from this period, was issued on September 6, 2011, and reached number 29 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart.

Beyond her musical endeavors, JoJo has also forged a path as an actress. Her television acting debut occurred in the 2002 American sitcom The Bernie Mac Show. She further appeared in the television series American Dreams in 2004 and Romeo! in 2006. Her cinematic career commenced in 2006 with roles in two prominent Hollywood films: Aquamarine marked her film debut, and she also starred in RV alongside Robin Williams. As of December 2023, JoJo maintains a strong social media presence, boasting 2.8 million followers on Instagram, 1.4 million on TikTok, and 1.01 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.
