Josi Campos embarked on her modeling career in 1982, gracing the catwalk for haute couture designers on the TV Mulher program. The following year, she set her sights on the Miss Rio Grande do Sul title. Her beauty pageant journey continued in 1986 when she secured a finalist position in the Miss São Paulo competition. Later that same year, representing Minas Gerais, she achieved third place in the Miss Brazil "International Beauty" pageant.
