Julie Strain — Biography
Julie Strain was an American actress and model renowned for her work with Penthouse magazine, where she was recognized as Pet of the Month in June 1991 and later honored as Pet of the Year in 1993. Born in Concord, California, she pursued her education at Diablo Valley College and showcased impressive athletic skills. After moving to Las Vegas, she made her way to Hollywood, where she garnered over 100 film credits and earned the title of "Queen of the B-movies," largely through her partnerships with director Andy Sidaris.
In addition to her film career, Strain's unique look inspired a variety of characters in comic books and animated productions. She lent her voice to the lead character in the animated movie Heavy Metal 2000 and served as the inspiration for the video game Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. Her image was frequently featured in Heavy Metal magazine, portrayed through photographs and illustrations from notable artists like Olivia De Berardinis and Simon Bisley. Strain was married to Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and editor-in-chief of Heavy Metal magazine.
In 1997, Heavy Metal released her autobiography, Six Foot One and Worth the Climb, which included film stills, modeling photos, and art from esteemed artists. Throughout her career, Strain adopted a consistent methodology in adult filmmaking, mainly involving simulated intimate scenes, with some exceptions.
A significant portion of her early memories was lost due to retrograde amnesia following a serious head injury from a horseback riding accident during her childhood. By November 2018, she was diagnosed with advanced dementia, thought to be a result of that earlier injury, and began receiving hospice care at home. She passed away on January 10, 2021, after enduring several years of illness.
