About Julie Woodson
Born on July 11, 1950, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Julie Woodson established herself as an American nude model. She achieved significant recognition when she was featured as Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month in April 1973. The iconic centerfold that brought her widespread attention was captured by photographers William Figge and Mel Figge.
Woodson's appearance was particularly noteworthy as she was only the third African-American woman to be named a Playboy Playmate of the Month. She followed in the footsteps of Jennifer Jackson, who earned the title in March 1965, and Jean Bell, who was Playmate of the Month in October 1969.
Further cementing her place in popular culture, Woodson shares a unique distinction with Pamela Anderson: both are the only Playmates to have graced the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine. Woodson's cover appearance for the publication was in May 1977.
Her achievements were recognized internationally, with multiple Playboy magazine covers: Playboy USA in April 1973, Playboy Germany in September 1973, and Playboy Italy in November 1973.
