About Juliette Lewis

Juliette Lake Lewis, born on June 21, 1973, is an American actress and vocalist. She has carved a niche for herself by embodying unconventional characters, frequently within narratives that explore darker themes. By the early 1990s, Lewis had emerged as a prominent figure in American cinema, participating in a variety of independent and art-house productions. Her impressive body of work has garnered her nominations for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Primetime Emmy Award.

The daughter of actor Geoffrey Lewis, Lewis began her professional journey in television at the age of fourteen. Her cinematic debut occurred with a minor part in My Stepmother Is an Alien in 1988, followed by a more significant role in the comedy National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation the following year. Her breakthrough came with her compelling performance as a troubled adolescent in Martin Scorsese's thriller Cape Fear, a role that earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She continued to deliver notable supporting performances in films such as Husbands and Wives, Kalifornia, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, and From Dusk Till Dawn, and took a leading role in Oliver Stone's crime drama Natural Born Killers.

In 2003, Lewis received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her work in the television film Hysterical Blindness. She later appeared in mainstream thrillers like Enough and Cold Creek Manor, as well as comedies such as Old School and Starsky & Hutch. In 2003, Lewis also launched a musical career, forming the rock band Juliette and the Licks. Since 2009, she has pursued a solo recording career.

Her more recent film credits include Conviction, The Switch, August: Osage County, and Ma. Since the latter half of the 2010s, Lewis has increased her television work, featuring prominently in series like The Firm, Wayward Pines, Secrets and Lies, The Act, Sacred Lies, Queer as Folk, and Welcome to Chippendales. Since 2021, she has held a starring role in the Showtime mystery-thriller series Yellowjackets.
