Karen McDougal — Biography

A Phoenix, Arizona-based model and actress, Karen has built a notable career in the entertainment and fashion industries. She gained prominence through her feature in Playboy magazine, serving as Playmate of the Month in December 1997 and earning the title of Playmate of the Year the following year. When Playboy readers ranked the most attractive Playmates of the 1990s in 2001, she placed as the runner-up in that poll. Originally from Merrillville, Indiana, she spent her formative years in Sawyer, Michigan before attending Ferris State University. Following her college years, she relocated to a Detroit area community where she worked as a preschool and pre-kindergarten instructor. A victory in a swimwear competition proved to be the turning point in her professional trajectory, opening doors to work as a glamour, promotional, and swimsuit model. Her professional expansion beyond Playboy included various pursuits in mainstream entertainment with varying degrees of achievement, including magazine modeling assignments, television advertising, and acting roles. Her work as a fitness model achieved particular recognition, earning multiple magazine placements and distinction as the inaugural female cover model for Men's Fitness magazine. Her filmography includes a role in The Arena, released direct-to-video in 2001, and she inspired the development of fantasy art collectibles and an action figure. A 2007 appearance in Spanish publication Interviu marked her final topless feature, accompanying an interview in which she discussed her relationship with actor Bruce Willis at that time. Drawn to physical activities since childhood, including ballet training and competitive high school athletics, she remains dedicated to fitness. She maintains an extensive personal collection of motorcycles and automobiles. After her Playmate career, she largely withdrew from public attention until reports surfaced regarding an alleged relationship with Donald Trump spanning 2006 to 2007 and efforts to suppress the story, which became prominent media topics surrounding the 2016 presidential election. Given her family's susceptibility to breast cancer and her own surgical breast augmentation, she has become an advocate for breast cancer education. Following health complications, she underwent removal of her breast implants in January 2017. Despite her professional background in swimsuit modeling, she struggles with aquaphobia and does not swim competently. Throughout her career, she has appeared on 6 magazine covers and in 6 major photo spreads.
