About Katharina Bauer
Born on June 12, 1990, Katharina Bauer is a German pole vaulter who has retired from the sport. She competed for Germany at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, though she did not advance to the finals. Bauer also made it to the final round at the European Indoor Championships on two occasions. Her highest outdoor vault was 4.65 meters, achieved in Beckum, Germany, and her best indoor performance was 4.60 meters, set in Leverkusen in 2015. Bauer has a heart condition characterized by an unusually rapid heartbeat that has been present since her youth, and she competes with an implanted defibrillator. In September 2016, Bauer appeared on the cover of the German edition of Playboy magazine, sharing the spotlight with fellow German athletes Isabelle Harle, Julia Lier, Nadja Pries, and Petrissa Solja.
