Kesha — Biography

In 2005, Kesha signed with Kemosabe Records at the age of 18. She gained significant recognition in early 2009 when she featured on Flo Rida's chart-topping hit, "Right Round." Kesha quickly rose to fame with her distinctive music and style. She has achieved two number-one albums on the US Billboard 200 charts: "Animal" in 2010 and "Rainbow" in 2017, alongside other successful records like "Warrior" from 2012 and "High Road" released in 2020. Kesha has also landed ten top-ten singles on the US Billboard Hot 100, including hits such as "Tik Tok," "Right Round," "My First Kiss" with 3OH!3, "Blah Blah Blah," "Your Love Is My Drug," "Take It Off," "We R Who We R," "Blow," "Die Young," and "Timber" with Pitbull. Her 2009 release "Tik Tok" became the best-selling digital single ever at that time, accumulating over 14 million sales globally until it was overtaken in 2011. In May 2023, Kesha launched her fifth studio album, "Gag Order." However, her career faced interruption between the releases of "Warrior" and "Rainbow" due to an ongoing legal battle with her former producer, Dr. Luke, which started in 2014. The series of lawsuits, referred to as Kesha v. Dr. Luke, involved Kesha’s allegations of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse against Dr. Luke, while he countered with claims of breach of contract and defamation. This legal dispute was resolved outside of court in June 2023. By 2013, Kesha was reported to have sold over 33 million tracks and ringtones in the United States alone, with over 55 million sold worldwide overall. She was ranked as the 26th top artist in Billboard's decade-end charts for the 2010s. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards, including the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act in 2010. In addition to her own work, Kesha has written songs for other artists, such as "Till the World Ends" for Britney Spears in 2011, as well as contributions for artists like Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Miranda Cosgrove.

In her personal life, Kesha follows a vegetarian diet and identifies as part of the LGBT community. Previously, she identified as bisexual, but in 2022, she explained that she prefers not to label her sexuality, declaring, "I'm not gay. I'm not straight. I don't know what I am. I love people... I refuse to be anything, really, except for open to it all." She has made similar remarks in 2010 and 2013. In a 2019 interview with Attitude, Kesha elaborated
