About Kessler Twins

Born in Nerchau, Saxony, a region that found itself within the German Democratic Republic following World War II, the Kessler Twins began their dance education at the tender age of six. By eleven, they were part of the Leipzig Opera's youth program. At eighteen, seeking to advance their dancing ambitions, they departed the GDR for West Germany, ultimately finding engagements at the Palladium in Düsseldorf.

From 1955 to 1960, their talents graced the stage of the Lido in Paris as part of Margaret Kelly's renowned Bluebell Girls ensemble. In 1959, they proudly represented West Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest, securing an eighth-place finish with their performance of "Heute Abend wollen wir tanzen geh'n." During this era, they also appeared in a number of films, predominantly musical comedies, most of which were not released in Italy. The Kessler sisters both passed away on November 17, 2025, their deaths both the result of assisted suicide.
