About Kimiko Glenn

Kimiko Glenn is a multifaceted American talent, recognized for her work as an actress, singer, and stage performer. Audiences widely associate her with the character of Brook Soso from the popular Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Her theatrical resume also includes taking on the role of Dawn Pinket in the Broadway musical Waitress. Beyond live-action, Glenn has lent her voice to animated characters such as Ezor in Voltron: Legendary Defender, Lena De Spell in DuckTales, and Peni Parker in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Her journey in the performing arts began at the young age of ten with the Valley Youth Theatre. By her freshman year at the Boston Conservatory, she was offered a significant opportunity, joining the first national tour of the musical Spring Awakening. Prior to that, she had originated the part of Emily in the Off-Broadway production of Freckleface Strawberry.

The year 2013 marked a pivotal point in her career when she secured the role of Brook Soso, an inmate at Litchfield Penitentiary, in the Netflix comedy-drama Orange Is the New Black. This performance earned her Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2014, 2015, and 2016. In 2014, she also appeared in the music video for Bleachers' song "I Wanna Get Better," directed by Lena Dunham.

Glenn took on a supporting role as Liv Kurosawa in the 2016 drama-thriller film Nerve, which was based on a young adult novel and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. Later that year, she joined the Broadway production of Waitress, portraying Dawn Williams. The show commenced preview performances on March 25, 2016, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, with its official opening on April 24.

In 2018, Glenn began starring as Harlow in the comedy web series Liza on Demand. More recently, she starred opposite Alexandra Daddario and Laverne Cox in the independent romantic comedy Can You Keep A Secret?. Currently residing in New York City, she has been in a relationship with Sean Grandillo since February 2015.
