Laura Elizabeth Dern, born February 10, 1967, is a celebrated American performer. Her extensive honors include an Oscar, an Emmy, a BAFTA, and an impressive five Golden Globes. The daughter of actor Bruce Dern and actress Diane Ladd, Laura made her mark in Hollywood during the 1980s, first gaining significant attention for her work in Mask and then for her memorable collaborations with director David Lynch in Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart.

Her acting journey continued with her first Oscar nomination for her role as the central orphan character in the 1991 drama Rambling Rose. The world truly took notice when she stepped into the shoes of Ellie Sattler in Steven Spielberg's iconic Jurassic Park in 1993. She later revisited this beloved character in the sequels Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World Dominion. Dern secured two Golden Globes for her portrayal of Katherine Harris in the television film Recount and for her performance as Amy Jellicoe in the series Enlightened. Her turn in the 2014 biopic Wild earned her a second Academy Award nomination.

In 2017, she joined the cast of the drama series Big Little Lies as Renata Klein, a role that brought her a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe. That same year, she again teamed up with David Lynch for Twin Peaks: The Return. Dern also appeared in significant supporting roles in notable films like Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Marriage Story, and Little Women, all released in 2017 and 2019 respectively. Her impactful performance in Marriage Story garnered her numerous awards, including an Academy Award and her fifth Golden Globe, both for Best Supporting Actress.
