About Lauren Lavera

Born in the vibrant city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lauren LaVera discovered a passion for acting early on. While pursuing higher education at Temple University, where she initially aimed for a Juris Doctor degree before shifting to English with a minor in Italian, acting was not her sole focus. She eventually left university to work as an optician. The pivotal moment that redirected her path towards a full-time acting career arrived with the passing of her grandmother, a woman who had harbored her own dreams of dancing and acting but never had the chance to fulfill them. The same day she resigned from her optical profession, LaVera enrolled in acting classes.

Her initial immersion into the film industry included a significant role as a body double for Anya Taylor-Joy, Haley Lu Richardson, and Jessica Sula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2016 superhero thriller, Split. This formative experience on set, working closely with Shyamalan, solidified her desire to pursue acting professionally. In 2017, LaVera secured a supporting part in Emanuele Della Valle's thriller, Wetlands.

Her career took a dramatic turn in 2022 with her casting as Sienna Shaw in Damien Leone's highly acclaimed slasher film, Terrifier 2. LaVera had auditioned for the role in 2019 and deliberately avoided watching the first Terrifier film to maintain an uninfluenced perspective during her audition process. This role proved to be her breakthrough, establishing her as a co-lead in the Terrifier franchise alongside David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown and Samantha Scaffidi as Victoria Heyes. Leone exclusively envisioned LaVera for the part, and her portrayal garnered considerable praise. Critics lauded her performance; IGN highlighted her as a compelling "final girl fighting for family," while Matthew Jackson of Paste commended her for successfully infusing the sequel with much-needed humanity through her "pure star power."

In the same year, LaVera appeared in the mob film Not for Nothing, released in October 2022. December 2022 saw her cast as Alessa, a pregnant woman facing familial disapproval of her marriage, in Joe Lam's 2023 horror film The Fetus, sharing the screen with Julian Curtis and Bill Moseley. By February 2023, Bloody Disgusting confirmed LaVera's lead role as Lisa Gray in Federico Zampaglione's supernatural thriller, The Well. She had the honor of presenting the film at its U.K. premiere during FrightFest in 2024. LaVera also made an appearance as a guest judge on the fifth season of Shudder's reality competition series, The Boulet Brothers' Dragula, in 2023. Her television work expanded in 2024 with a two-episode guest role as Heidi Morris in NBC's Law & Order: Organized Crime,
