Born May 13, 1986, Lena Dunham is a multi-talented American artist known for her work as a writer, director, actress, and producer. Her most notable creation is the HBO series Girls, which aired from 2012 to 2017. Dunham served as the show's creator, lead writer, and star. Her contributions to Girls earned her multiple Emmy Award nominations and two Golden Globe Awards. She also took the helm as director for several episodes of the series, making history as the first woman to secure the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing – Comedy Series.
