About Lori Petty
Lori Petty has carved a niche for herself as an American talent behind and in front of the camera, excelling as an actress, director, and screenwriter. Her cinematic journey began with a role in the 1990 comedy Cadillac Man. She quickly followed this with notable performances in prominent films, including Point Break in 1991, the beloved baseball movie A League of Their Own in 1992, and the family favorite Free Willy in 1993. Her acting credits further expanded with appearances in The Glass Shield in 1994, and she took on the lead in the cult classic Tank Girl in 1995.
Venturing into television, Petty not only starred in the brief Fox sitcom Lush Life in 1996, which she also created, but she also continued to engage with the independent film scene and smaller projects throughout her career. A significant directorial effort came in 2008 with the independent drama The Poker House, a film that drew inspiration from her own upbringing in the 1970s. More recently, Petty became a familiar face on Netflix, joining the popular comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black in 2014. She initially appeared as a guest star in the second season as Lolly Whitehill, before becoming a recurring presence in the third, fourth, and seventh seasons.
